About – The Future
We want Government to establish a fund that is available to every secondary school for best practice early intervention programs for students at risk of leaving school early.
“The cost of disengagement truancy and premature school exiting is clear. Early school leaving is linked to increases in crime, homelessness, mental and physical health issues.” (Victorian Department of Premier and Cabinet 2005).
“Every dollar invested by government in keeping early school leavers at school generates a return of $3.20 through the likes of higher tax revenue (through higher salaries), increased health outcomes, lower crime and welfare costs, and increased productivity.” (Applied Economics, 2002).
Imagine what could be achieved if all schools had funding to deliver best practice programs like Hands on Learning?
